Conditions Treated

Many digestive, musculo-skeletal, respiratory, gynecological, pediatric, cardiovascular, urogenital, immune-related, pain, psychological, stress-related, cosmetic, and neurological conditions can be treated or improved by acupuncture treatment. Nancy has over 31 years of experience in general practice, treating a wide range of common and uncommon health concerns.

Stress-related disorders and smoking

Insomnia, fatigue, high or low blood pressure, smoking addiction, general malaise, irritability, depression, and many others

Sports injuries and musculo-skeletal problems

Acupuncture treatment for sports injuries uses a systematic protocol for treating acute or chronic sports injuries that is designed to speed healing and return the athlete to training and/or competition as quickly as possible and to resolve pain and limitation of movement in the non-competitor. Acupuncture can be very effective for post-concussion syndrome, sprains and strains, back and neck pain, shoulder injuries, shin splints, herniated discs, knee pain, sciatica and other leg pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, bursitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, plantar fasciitis, tendinitis, arthritis, and more. Acupuncture is increasingly used by top professional athletes to resolve musculo-skeletal problems. Treatment speeds healing, increases range of motion, improves local blood circulation, strengthens weak areas, relaxes tight muscles, and decreases pain, inflammation, and swelling. Nancy has worked closely with the sports medicine departments at UMass/Amherst and Mount Holyoke College.

Headaches and migraines, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic back and neck pain, etc.

Pediatric health concerns

Nancy uses pediatric tuina (a style of acupressure) and acupuncture as well as suggestions for home care to treat a wide variety of children’s health concerns, including cough, indigestion, night crying, failure-to-thrive, ADHD, asthma, and earache, as well as to provide general preventive care. Acupuncture has also shown promise as a treatment to improve physical and behavioral issues in children with autism and Asperger’s syndrome.

Facial rejuvenation

Treatment to erase fine lines and lighten deeper wrinkles, improve facial color and tone, and have a mild lifting effect on the face.

Acupuncture is gaining increasing recognition as an important addition to health care resources. Since 1979, the World Health Organization has recognized numerous conditions that respond well to acupuncture treatment.

There are a number of other health conditions that can be successfully treated with acupuncture therapy. Please contact the office if you have any questions about the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment for your particular concern.
